Where did the time go? Crazy!
Isaac hit his 5 month birthday with ease. His first Thanksgiving was fun and cheerful with lots of family around. In that last month (+a week or two), he has had a lot of firsts. First oatmeal, first taste of sweet potato, first taste of a lime, first escalator ride, first group hug. He’s attacking life with vigor! I noticed he started sticking his tongue out a lot this last week. Not just for the purpose of sticking out his tongue, but as part of his noise making or talking. It’s cute and lovely. Lovely is my new word for him lately.
On the job front, I applied for and interviewed for a new job in QA at work. This is Quality Assurance, which is essentially game testers. The reason I applied is because my long term goal is to move into some kind of management position, and my current department doesn’t really fit in with that goal. The interview went extremely well, but I didn’t get it. One of the games I was interviewing for is in another language, so while I did extremely well and they really liked me, another guy that interviewed had Localisation experience (which means the process of getting the game from another language to English), so he got it. They asked me for a followup interview to tell me they really liked me and wanted to steal me away in the future, so I was still encouraged.
Fast forward a week. One of the guys that interviewed me got a job somewhere else, another one of the guys that interviewed me got his job, and jobs trickled like so. They offered me a job and I accepted. I start the new position on the 13th and I’m extremely excited. I’m pretty bummed to be leaving my team, but I’ll still get to see them and this is a great opportunity for me. Yay!
We had a work function the other day and I got to play pool. I miss me some pool.
I can’t think of anything else to write about even though I’m sure there are a million things I should write about. Eh, I’m sure you’re all used to it by now.
