Todays appointment was positive. If you don’t want to hear specifics about my nether regions and their preparedness for birth, don’t read the next paragraph.

I’m half effaced and dilated to one centimeter. This is a good sign and things have officially begun. She said she believes he weighs about 7.5 pounds, which judging by my tummy, I don’t think anyone would be surprised. If I have him next week, he will probably be over 8 pounds. Keep in mind he’s not technically due for another 3 weeks. HAH. Mom and I have been saying I wouldn’t make it the full 40 weeks for quite awhile and I’m pretty positive we are right.

The absurd itching, swelling and redness of my “stretchmarks” is a real condition! It’s called PUPPP. The actual redness, swelling and itchiness isn’t from the stretchmarks, but rather from this rash that has formed.  According to my Dr., it’s just one of those things that happens to some people and not others. It poses no threat to either of us, other than making me insane with itchiness. The good thing is she prescribed me a steroid cream that will ease the itching and make the swelling go down and it will all go away shortly after I’m done being pregnant. While you may think this sounds like bad news, it’s actually a very good thing because it means I’m not crazy about every lotion on the planet making it worse and I am now taking something that will make it better. Hurray!

Lastly, I think we’ve narrowly avoided having a crazy neighbor. She had a friend of hers moving her out when we went to check out the new apartment, and she felt obligated to tell us that living in those apartments was a bad idea and that we should not move in. Why? Because her “roomate became abusive” shortly after she moved in, so she turned in her 30 day notice and they said she couldn’t turn in a notice because her roomates name was on the lease. Yeah, neat how an abusive roomate has zero connection to the competency of the apartment staff. Anyone who remembers my downstairs neighbor stories from Denton will have some idea of the level of crazy potential this lady had. She could have been worse than the asprin/thermometer lady in Denton. Woof.

So now we will be moving all things homely over the weekend. We’re going to need them to come spray, as there were some ants and a spider camped out near Isaac’s room. Not acceptable! Other than that, I’m glad it is bigger than our current place and I’m excited to have everything in place soon. It’s time for dinner. Will have more updates later!
